The TRUTH

The TRUTH has always been and shall always be subjective.

• “Truth” is defined as “A fact that has been verified”
• Yet it is also defined “As conformity to reality and actuality”.

So what happens when reality drifts away from actuality? What do we conform to then?

The problem here is that the later of the two definitions is truly how we define truth in every day life. This would have to be where our troubles begin, our understanding of reality and actuality have always been in conflict. History has produced many lessons in conformity, none more dramatic than entire nations conforming to its own reality which has no basis in truth. Yet despite the many lessons history has not been a good teacher and generation after generation seem doomed to repeat the human flaw that allows us to separate reality from truth. How many kingdoms and monarchies, how many men and women of our 6000 year social history have held beliefs that have now been established as untrue and certainly unscientific? Can we excuse them as mere ignorant and stupid individuals?
The hard reality is that the leaders of those times where as brilliant people as by any current standard of intellect. Smart people have always thought dumb things on occasion and this is a fact that shall never change.  We may think we have conquered many scientific boundaries but it would be supremely arrogant to think we know it all. Once science answers one question, that answer often opens the door to a Marriott of others. This would be the case in every aspect of science research but possibly none more profound than in the case of biology. Only decades ago we cracked open the smallest cell seeking to answer many questions, only to discover that smallest of cells, had a universe inside. That discovery changed virtually every understanding in cell biology held to that point. We may have lost our understanding of the very words that pass from our lips, but some things cannot change.

The truth is finite, it always was and always will be, never wrong, supported by evidence to establish the fact. The day we as humans give up on the pursuit of Truth and reality is the day we decide we should no longer exist.
